The string winds back in.
Thirty-three feet of copper wire lives on a reel inside the case. Pull out as much as the pitch needs, wind the rest back by hand, and it travels as one disc that sits in a palm. The wire is soft enough to turn around a pole or follow a guy line, and there is nothing loose left to untangle at the next site.

Four lights, one disc.
The case does the broad work: the whole white face lights up, which is enough for a table or the inside of a tent. The string does the long work, along a tarp ridge, round a pole, over the tent. Behind the case there is a narrow high-beam LED for finding something at the edge of camp. And on the Warm White + Color version the same strand runs color as well as warm white. That is the four. Read it as evening light rather than work light: it sets a site and gets you around it, not a substitute for a headlamp or a full lantern.

Five modes on one button.
One button steps through the lot. The string holds constant. It breathes, fading up and down. It flickers like fireflies. The lantern face comes on by itself, then the lantern face and the string together. Hold the button and the spotlight on the back takes over. The breathing and firefly modes are color, so they belong to the Warm White + Color version; the Warm White version keeps its string at a steady warm white.

A spotlight, and magnets, on the back.
Turn it over and the back is working too. In the middle sits the high-beam LED, the narrow one for walking to the car. Around it, three magnets set flush in the plate, so the case holds itself to anything steel — a car door, a pole bracket, a cooler lid. The button and the charging port are on the same face. Hung from a lantern hook, the lit side points down at the table.

FAQ
What are the four lights?
The lantern face on the front, the warm white string, the color on the string, and the high-beam spotlight on the back. The color is only on the Warm White + Color version, so on the Warm White version you get three of the four.
What is the difference between the two versions?
Only the string. Warm White runs warm white and holds steady. Warm White + Color runs the same warm white, plus color on the same strand, which is what the breathing and firefly modes use. The lantern face and the spotlight are the same on both.
How long is the string, and does it really wind back in?
33 ft / 10 m, on a reel inside the case. Pull out what the site needs and wind the rest back by hand when you pack up.
How is it powered?
A built-in rechargeable battery, filled over USB. A USB cable comes with it, so charge it from a power bank, a laptop, a car port or a wall adapter you already own. Plan on carrying a power bank if you are out for more than a night or two.
How long does a charge last?
We are not publishing a run time until we have measured one ourselves. Charge it full before you leave, and keep a power bank in the same pocket.
Is it bright enough to light a campsite?
No, and it is not meant to be. This is evening and accent light — a tent, a tarp line, a table, a path you already know. Keep a headlamp or a full lantern for pitching in the dark or anything that needs real light.
Can I leave it out in the rain?
The manufacturer states the string is rated IP44, splash resistant. Run the string under a tarp or inside the tent and bring the case in overnight. We would not set it down in water or leave it out through a storm.
