FAQ
What can I cook in it?
Anything in small pieces: vegetables, shrimp, mushrooms, cherry tomatoes, asparagus, diced chicken or sausage, potato wedges. Cut the pieces bigger than the mesh openings and don't pack the tube full, so it can turn and the heat reaches every piece.
How much does it hold?
The 11.8 in tube holds a side dish for about four. With the handle on, the basket is about 17.7 in long.
Can I close the grill lid?
Yes. The wooden handle screws into the lid: unscrew it by hand, close the grill and cook as usual. Lift the hot basket off with the wire hook, then screw the handle back on to serve. On an open grill or a campfire grate you can leave the handle on.
Does it work on a campfire?
Yes, on a grill grate over the fire ring or a fire pit. Keep it over coals and low flames rather than in the fire itself, and use the handle and the hook, not bare hands; the steel gets hot.
How do I turn it and get the food out?
Turn it by the wooden handle a quarter turn every few minutes. When it's done, lift it off the grate, take the lid off with the wire hook and tip the food onto a plate.
Does the food still taste grilled?
Yes. The tube is open mesh on every side, so flame, heat and smoke reach the food just as they do on the grate.
How do I clean it?
Let it cool, soak it in hot soapy water and brush the mesh. Dry it before you put it away. Keep the wooden handle out of long soaks.
What is the difference between the packs?
The same basket, 1, 2 or 4 of them, each with its own lid, handle and hook. Two let you cook vegetables and shrimp separately; the 4-pack is for big cookouts or to split into gifts. Orders from $49 ship free, so the 2 and 4 packs ship free.
When will it arrive, and what if it is not right?
Orders are prepared in 1–3 business days and delivered in 7–15 business days from the ship date, with tracking. You have 30 days from delivery to return it; tell us within 7 days if anything arrives damaged or if the wrong item was sent. Manufacturing defects are covered for 90 days.
